CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) West Virginia's Republican Party chairman says he's running for the state's 3rd District U.S. House seat.

Media outlets report Conrad Lucas made the announcement Wednesday.

Lucas will seek the office held by Republican Evan Jenkins, who is running next year for the Senate seat currently occupied by Democrat Joe Manchin.

The 36-year-old Lucas, an attorney from Huntington, says he's stepping down as state GOP chairman in January. He was named to that post in 2012.
