GOLF: Glacier’s Grande, Flathead’s Mercer top 10 in Butte Invite

ANACONDA — Glacier’s AJ Grande shot 76 to tie for fourth and Flathead’s Marcella Mercer was ninth with a 94 on Day 1 of the Butte Invitational Wednesday at Old Works Golf Course.

Grande is two shots off the boys lead, held after one round by Missoula Sentinel’s Blake Hasquet. Mercer is 12 strokes off the pace set by Bozeman’s Annika Danenhauer.

Glacier is eighth in the boys team standings with a combined score of 347, while Flathead is ninth at 365.

The Wolfpack is fourth in the girls standings with a team score of 442. Flathead did not qualify for a team score.

Play at the invitational resumes today at 9 a.m. at the Butte Country Club.
