Victor Morris “Vic” Miles was born in Missoula, Sept. 1, 1943, to Grace Fly and Morris W. Miles.

His early years were spent on the home ranch in Tarkio, Montana. He attended school in Superior and Missoula County High School.

He served in the U.S. Army, National Guard and Reserves from 1960-1968 and was honorably discharged.

He was working at Van Evans in Missoula when he and a buddy heard there was a new plywood plant opening in Columbia Falls, and on a whim they decided to check it out. He was hired and spent the next 40 years working at Plum Creek Plywood until he retired.

On June 19, 1971, he was married to Patricia “Pat” Greene Arvidson in Colfax, Washington. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last June. During his time at Plum Creek, he and Pat leased and ran North Fork Lanes for 19 years.

Vic loved all car racing, NASCAR, Sprints, IndyCar, Formula One and Stock Cars; he even drove for a few years at the old Tri-City Speedway. He attended several NASCAR races and even an IndyCar race in Portland, Oregon, as well as races at Skagit Speedway in Washington, and races in Great Falls, Belgrade, Billings, Kalispell and a few more tracks in Arizona. He was also a sports fan. He attended a Phoenix Coyotes hockey game, Phoenix Suns basketball game. (He has a son who lives in Phoenix). Naturally, he was a Montana Grizzly fan and had attended two of their games.

After a hard battle with cancer, Vic passed away on Christmas Eve.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Grace; infant brother, Daniel; nephew Duke Holmes; brother-in-law, Dick Holmes; and his in-laws, Al and Vi Greene.
