Troy High School, Sr.
Football, Basketball, Track and Field
Tucked away in the tiniest of outposts in Troy, the freakishly gifted Sean Opland concluded a career like no other in his school’s history with another jaw-dropping performance across all seasons.
On the gridiron, Opland accounted for nearly 2,000 total yards of offense, averaged 9.1 yards per carry and recorded more than 100 tackles en route to being named all-conference at three different positions (running back, linebacker and returner). He picked up all-state honors in football for the third year in a row.
Opland led Troy’s basketball team, too, earning a spot on the all-conference second team, and was a four-time all-state finisher in track his senior season after winning a pair of sprint titles as a junior.
Opland is expected to play running back at Montana State this fall, and if he is limited to one position it will be quite a change from a year ago. In his senior season, Opland played quarterback, running back, linebacker and safety, along with punting and handling kickoff duties.
